OUR APPROACH
Blended Learning
Our innovative and versatile approach to education combines the benefits of traditional in-person instruction with the flexibility of online learning.
Our approach acknowledges that everyone brings something to the table, no matter their background or level of education. We treat everyone with the same care and respect.
We have a responsibility as educators to draw out the potential of our learners and educate them in a way that focuses on their strengths. We know that if we do our job right, it will have a meaningful impact on the communities that we live in.
Glin National College is a Social Enterprise. Social enterprises prioritise the well-being of individuals and the environment over financial profits. They are motivated by a mission to make a positive social or environmental impact and channel their earnings into initiatives that drive meaningful social change.
NCU Training is a division of NCU CLG, established in the mid-1980s by the Bonnybrook Unemployed Action Group to serve the unemployed community. Renamed Northside Centre for the Unemployed (N.C.U.) in July 1991, the organisation founded the Northside Computer Training Centre a few years later in June 1998, offering computer education to individuals who needed it for new job roles.
Due to its increasing popularity, a separate management structure was instituted in 2003 to cater to its expanding workload and deliver training within the greater Dublin area. The history of NCU Training highlights the significance of concerted efforts towards serving the community.Â
In 2020, the Board of Management decided to rebrand the organisation as Glin National College, believing that our quality training could be delivered nationwide. The new brand name incorporates our geographical location, “Glin Road Coolock Dublin 17”, emphasising national delivery and our Q.Q.I. (Quality & Qualification Ireland) approval, moving from a training centre to a more recognised College format.
Â
Today, Glin National College offers a range of courses in healthcare, health and safety, and hospitality. The college has a rich community service history and delivers quality education and training to individuals from diverse backgrounds. It is committed to helping people acquire the skills necessary to thrive in today’s competitive job market and takes pride in contributing to the realisation of this vision.
Glin National College exists to provide a comprehensive, professional, goal-oriented, and not-for-profit responsive Education and Training Social Enterprise Centre. It offers excellent courses and programmes in solidarity with our community’s ongoing vocational needs, based on the principles of equality, access, equity, participation, opportunity, and social justice.
We believe that we have a responsibility to uncover the potential within our learners, and do it in a safe, open and collaborative environment that plays to their strengths. This approach reflects the core values of our organisation and the real benefits that learning brings:
We believe that all members of the society regardless of circumstance are entitled to quality education, training and access to quality well-paid jobs.
